REGULATIONS VIO GLOBAL CHAMPION INTERNATIONAL MATHEMATICS COMPETITION 2026–2027
Following a memorable inaugural season, Vio Global Champion officially returns for the 2026–2027 academic year.
Building on nearly 20 years of experience from Violympic, Vio Global Champion takes the challenge to the next level with Mathematics in English, combining multiple-choice and written-response questions to develop logical thinking and real-world problem-solving skills in line with international standards.
Vio Global Champion 2026–2027 promises a new journey filled with exciting challenges, meaningful experiences, and opportunities for global connection, welcoming young mathematical talents to step onto the world stage.
I. GENERAL INFORMATION
- Competition Name: VIO GLOBAL CHAMPION
- Organizers: FPT Information System Company Limited (FPT IS), FPT Corporation
- Supporting Partner: Vietnam Institute of Educational Sciences
- Objectives:
To provide students with access to a vast repository of knowledge, modern methodologies and mathematical thinking aligned with international standards – where Mathematics is not merely a subject but a language of logic and creativity.
- To connect math enthusiasts across the world and build a global learning community – where students can exchange knowledge, explore their potential, and develop the ability to apply mathematical reasoning to real-life contexts.
- To recognize and nurture outstanding mathematical talents, fostering a generation of young people with logical minds, intellectual sharpness, and an aspiration to reach beyond boundaries.
- To harness the power of technology and the Internet to expand equal learning opportunities for all students, promote cultural and intellectual exchange among nations, and jointly build a global generation that is intelligent, humane, and responsible.
II. COMPETITION REGULATIONS
2.1. Eligibility
The competition is open to Vietnamese and international students aged 6 to 16, classified into the following levels:
- Level 1: 6 years old
- Level 2: 7 years old
- Level 3: 8 years old
- Level 4: 9 years old
- Level 5: 10 years old
- Level 6: 11 years old
- Level 7: 12 years old
- Level 8: 13 years old
- Level 9: 14 years old
- Level 10: 15 years old
- Level 11: 16 years old
Note: The student’s age is determined by their birth year (registration year minus birth year) at the time of registration for the competition.
2.2. Registration Procedure
- Students will register for an account to participate in the competition directly on the official website: https://vio-global.com/ or through their respective schools, following the registration form provided by the Organizing Committee.
- Each student is allowed to use only one valid account throughout the entire competition.
- Participation fee:
- Vietnamese students: 450,000 VND
- International students: 20 USD
2.3. Promotional policies for international schools’ students (not holding Vietnamese citizenship)
- Each school will be provided with 01 Distinction promotional code (granting a 100% discount) and 10 Excellent promotional codes (granting a 30% discount) on the Training Round participation fee for 01 student per code.
- Schools shall proactively develop and decide on the method for selecting the 10 students eligible for the promotional codes based on their actual conditions (through selection, nomination, voting, or other appropriate methods), ensuring the principles of fairness, objectivity, and transparency.
- Schools are responsible for notifying and distributing the promotional codes to the students according to the selected list; and simultaneously coordinating with the Organizing Committee to verify the information of the eligible students upon request.
- The Organizing Committee is responsible for issuing, managing, and authenticating the promotional codes on the operating system. The selection of eligible students falls under the authority and responsibility of the school as stipulated in this Section.
- Each promotional code can only be used once for 01 student and is valid within the period specified by the Organizing Committee. Promotional codes cannot be exchanged for cash, are non-transferable, and cannot be applied simultaneously with other promotional programs or fee exemptions/reductions.
Special Teacher Perk: For any international school that successfully registers 20 or more students to participate in the International Final Round in Hanoi, the Organizing Committee will grant 01 Complimentary Package (Free Registration and Full Accommodation Coverage) for a designated Teacher Coordinator to accompany the student delegation to the International Final Round in Hanoi.
2.4. Competition Content
2.4.1. Format and Schedule
(a) Format: Online and on-site
(b) Duration: From September 30th, 2026 to June 30th 2027
(c) Subject: Mathematics in English.
(d) Language Support & Terminology Tool: The competition platform integrates a Visual Mathematical Glossary (English terminology explanation tool) during designated rounds. This tool is designed to assist students in fully comprehending English mathematical terms without providing answers or solutions, ensuring an equitable, accessible, and supportive testing environment for all international candidates.
2.4.2. Test Content and Structure
(a) Objective Test: Each test consists of 20 questions, with a maximum score of 100 points, divided into three sections:
- Part A: 10 multiple-choice questions, 3 points each
- Part B: 4 questions, each containing 4 True/False statements (10 points each):
▪ 1 correct statement: 2 point
▪ 2 correct statements: 4 points
▪ 3 correct statements: 6.5 points
▪ 4 correct statements: 10 points - Part C: 6 short-answer numerical questions, 5 points each
(b) Written Test (Final Round): Two open-ended questions, maximum total score of 30 points, completed on paper answer sheets and graded directly by the judging panel.
2.4.3. Ranking Criteria
- The system will rank students in each Level based on their total score and completion time, in descending order.
- Rankings for each round are calculated independently.
- The leader board will be updated daily
2.5. Competition Rounds
2.5.1. Training Round
(a) Format: Online (students can take the test at home)
(b) Eligibility: All registered students.
(c) Duration: 45 minutes per test
(d) Number of Tests: 5 independent test stages scheduled as follows:
- Test 1: September 30th, 2026
- Test 2: October 20th, 2026
- Test 3: November 10th, 2026
- Test 4: December 15th, 2026
- Test 5: January 12th, 2027
All tests conclude at 23:59 – February 20th, 2027 (GMT+7 time zone). Scoring Principle
Notes:
- Each test can be taken only once. The system automatically selects the 03 highest-scoring tests to evaluate results. The maximum total score for consideration into the National Round is 300 points,
- Students are obliged to complete at least 03/05 tests,
- Students may take the tests at any time during the available testing period (from the opening date until February 20th, 2027).
2.5.2. National Round
(a) Format: Online, conducted at locations designated by national coordinators.
(b) Eligibility: Students who achieve a total score of 120 points & 03 tests or higher in the Training Round.
(c) Duration: 45 minutes per test
(d) Number of Tests: 1 objective test
(e) Schedule:
(e).1 For Vietnamese students: the exam schedule and participation method will be announced by the Organizing Committee on the website before February 20th , 2027. The exam code will be announced by the supervisor to students 10 minutes before the exam begins.
(e).2 For international students: The Organizing Committee in each country will choose one of the following exam schedules and take the initiative in organizing and supervising to select candidates to participate in the International Final round.
(f) Announcement and registration for the International Final Round:
– After the National Round ends, the System will announce the rankings of students eligible to participate in the International Final Round, specifically as follows:
+ For international students: Select the Top 50 students of each Level in each country.
+ For Vietnamese students: Select the Top 200 students of each Level, who achieve 40 points or more.
– Based on the rankings, students or the Organizing Committee of each country will register to participate in the International Final Round in the individual and team categories with the Organizing Committee before April 20th, 2027 according to the form prescribed by the Organizing Committee.
– In case the number of registered students is not enough, the Organizing Committee has the right to consider selecting additional students in the next rankings to ensure the scale and representativeness of the International Final Round.
(g) The International Final Round will be held when there are at least 03 participating countries, and the total number of registered students is at least 50 students/level. The Organizing Committee will announce the details on the website before April 25th, 2027.
2.5.3. International Final Round
(a) Format: Online/offline, conducted at locations designated by the Organizing Committee.
(b) Eligibility: All students who have registered to participate in the International Final Round with the Organizing Committee in section 2.5.2 (f).
(c) Competition period: June 2027
(d) Offline Venue: Hanoi, Vietnam
Note: The schedule, format, and venue details provided for the International Final Round are tentative. The Organizing Committee reserves the right to make necessary adjustments based on actual conditions. Any official changes will be announced to participants at least two (02) months prior to the event.
2.5.3.1 Individual competition categories: 01 test consists of 02 parts: 01 online test and 01 written test, with a total duration of 60 minutes.
2.5.3.2 Team competition category:
– Each country will select 05 students to represent the country to participate in the team competition.
– The team competition content focuses on challenges that promote the spirit of cooperation, strategy and teamwork.
– The national teams will compete directly, based on the total score of the competition, the Organizing Committee will rank them in order from highest to lowest.
2.6. International Final Round Package Costs & Sponsorship
All activities of students registering for the 4-day International Final Round Package in Hanoi will be arranged by the Organizing Committee, with specific costs as follows:
+ For international students: 360 USD.
+ For Vietnamese students: 9,200,000 VND.
+ Students who wish to participate directly in the International Final Round on-site at the designated venue on the competition day while choosing to opt out of the 4-day full experiential program may register for the International Final Round Lite Package.
Participation Fee: 90 USD (~ 2,400,000 VND).
Package Inclusion: This fee exclusively covers the on-site examination session and official award recognition for the International Final Round. It excludes accommodation, meals, transportation, and experiential activities provided in the standard 4-day package.
Important Note for International Candidates: The Organizing Committee reserves the right to decline or cancel the organization of this specific package if fewer than 30 registered candidates select this option. In such cases, alternative arrangements or full refunds of the package fee will be notified directly by the Organizing Committee.
Contingency Provision: In the event that direct travel or on-site participation conditions cannot be met by candidates from certain countries, the Organizing Committee reserves the right to deploy an Online Proctored Examination Format for the International Final Round. This ensures that all qualified international students retain their equal opportunity to compete for global medals and official rankings.
Note:
– The 4-day International Final Round Package include: uniforms, accommodation, 3 meals/day, 2-way airport shuttle for international students, shuttle for the entire journey, sightseeing tours and teambuilding, insurance costs during the program.
– Costs do not include: visa procedures, airfare for international students, personal expenses.
– For Vietnamese students, the Organizing Committee will pick them up at the place of accommodation.
2.7. International Final Round Package Schedule
III. AWARDS
3.1. National Round Awards
All participating students will receive an online certificate of participation.
The Organizing Committee will consider and issue Certificates of Merit to students who achieve a minimum score of 40 points in the National Round at each Level, as follows:
- Gold Award: Top 5% of students with a minimum score of 80 points, including a Certificate of Merit – Gold Award.
- Silver Award: Top 10% of students with a minimum score of 70 points, including a Certificate of Merit – Silver Award.
- Bronze Award: Top 15% of students with a minimum score of 55 points, including a Certificate of Merit – Bronze Award.
- Merit Award: Top 20% of students with a minimum score of 40 points, including a Certificate of Merit.
3.2. International Final Round Awards
3.2.1. Awards for Students
- All students participating in the International Final Round will receive a souvenir gift and a certificate of completion from the Organizing Committee.
- The Organizing Committee will grant awards to students ranked in the top positions of the International Final Round leader board as follows:
- Top 1–3: Gold Award – Gold Medal, Certificate of Merit, and a material gift valued at 1.500 USD.
- Top 4–10: Silver Award – Silver Medal, Certificate of Merit, and a material gift valued at 450 USD.
- Top 11–20: Bronze Award – Bronze Medal, Certificate of Merit, and a material gift valued at 100 USD.
- Top 21–30: Merit Award – Certificate of Merit.
Note: All prizes are non-convertible to cash.
3.2.2. Awards for Teams
+ 01 Championship Prize: Championship Cup and Cash Prize worth 450 USD
+ 02 Potential Prizes: Souvenir Flag and Cash Prize worth 250 USD/Prize.
